Principal: Simon Walsh

Simon Walsh is a highly experienced and qualified mathematics teacher who has worked for both state and independent schools.

Whilst at Steyning Grammar School in West Sussex, he was responsible for innovation in the teaching of mathematics. In addition he was the Mathematics Co-ordinator for Year 11 Intervention, a pilot programme focused on underperforming pupils. That year the school achieved the highest proportion of A*- C grades it's history of GCSE maths results.

Simon Walsh has a strong reputation for his innovative approach to teaching and an ability to relate well to young people. He has been involved for many years in providing both traditional and alternative forms of education and his contributions to these fields have been recognised by significant figures such as Cherie Blair and HRH Prince of Wales.

Advanced Mathematics: Geoff Buckwell

Mr Buckwell has been teaching for over 30 years and is currently the head of sixth form mathematics at one of the largest and most successful state schools in Sussex.

He has authored many text books and is one of the most highly experienced and capable teachers of A Level mathematics in the country.

Mr Buckwell's role at Maths Doctor includes providing tuition and assisting in the development of teaching resources.

Last year two of his tutees passed their entry exams to read maths at Cambridge.

Maths and Science Tutor: Mathew Alker

Matt Alker is an experienced and qualified teacher of secondary science and A Level physics. He has an Engineering degree from Cambridge and is currently studying towards a Masters in Education. Matt is available to tutor both maths or science up to A Level.

SATS & GCSE Tutor

Jane Porter taught for over 10 years at a large secondary school in West Sussex, and has extensive experience teaching Key Stage 3 mathematics and preparing pupils for SATS exams. She currently works as a professional home tutor for Brighton and Hove County Council as well as providing tuition and exam coaching for Maths Doctor. Jane has a friendly and approachable teaching style and is very popular with her pupils.

Maths Tutor: Steve Coomber

Steve Coomber is a graduate in mathematics and a professional home tutor. His calm and patient teaching style makes him highly popular with pupils. Steve works at MD Space and is available for home visits.

Maths Mentor: Tana

Tana is currently studying towards her A Level in further maths. She is a gifted mathematician with a natural affinity for teaching. Tanya works at MD Space and is instrumental in bridging the generation gap between the teachers and the pupils. The energy and  enthusiasm she brings makes her an ideal role model.
